FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ)

What are the benefits of SMP?

No False Claims

  • There is a ton of products on the market that claim they will re-grow hair, but most of them have no effect at all. Many people fall into the hype about these products thinking they will be the cure for their baldness. Micropigmentation is different, because it has nothing to do with the hair growth itself, it mimics the hair follicles.
  • Affordable because scalp micropigmentation is a permanent solution to hair loss, It is also only a fraction of the cost when compared to hair transplants. There is no need for expensive aftercare medications.

Safe

  • With this treatment we do not use any chemicals, which in return mean no side effects. There are no incisions needed which mean very little to no infection concerns.

Fast Procedure

  • This simple procedure, which is known as hair tattooing, is finished in a few of sessions. In only a few sessions you will achieve a perfect shaved-head look. Even after the first session you will notice realistic results.

Fast Healing

  • Because of the non-invasive procedure of micropigmentation, healing time is very limited, which mean little to no down time. All that is needed is proper cleaning in the following weeks.

Low Maintenance

  • Because there is no real hair, there is little to no maintenance. Just wash and go.

Looks Realistic

  • Pigments are matched to both existing hair color, as well as skin tone. The direction of your natural hair growth will also be implemented in this procedure to ensure a genuine look.

Who can benefit FROM SMP?

Scalp micro pigmentation works on people with pale or dark skin and black hair. This technique replaces semi or complete baldness, receding hair lines and thinning hair. This replicates the appearance of a full head of hair.

How long does SMP last?

A number of factors need to be taken into consideration. Your age, metabolism, level of sun exposure, immune system are some examples. A scalp micropigmentation treatment can last between 1 and 5 years before you need a touch-up. There is no guarantee of a specific time frame before the microdots start to fade due to the individual’s skin type. Still, if you apply sunscreen regularly and have the proper aftercare this procedure can last you quite a few years.
Can women benefit from SMP?

Women also experience conditions like alopecia, thinning hair or baldness. we will apply the same procedure to reduce the appearance of hair loss or thinning hair.

How Long Does a Session Take?

The length of a procedure depends a lot on the severity of baldness, 2 to 3 hours is the typical length. We apply each simulated follicle by hand so this is why it may be a lengthy procedure.

We would advise our clients to opt for three sessions to complete their treatment. A single session will provide you with less-than-perfect results and the need for touch-ups sooner.
How Many SMP Treatments Will I Need?

You will need 3 sessions of 2 to 3 hours. Depending on your skin and severity of baldness you may need less or more. The first session will be the pigment application. At about 7 to 10 days later, we can do a touch up and add more density. 10 days after the touch up we can do the final touch up. Some need less, others more. The first treatment is reserved for the pigment application. 7 to 14 days later, we can touch up any spots and keep adding density. 4 to 6 weeks after your second treatment, we will do a final touch up.

Is SMP Reversible?

Of course SMP is fully reversible using a tattoo removal laser. It’s actually easier to remove than a regular tattoo. Tattoo ink contains carcinogens and heavy metals and is inserted in the mid or lower dermis. SMP ink is organic and is inserted into the upper dermis, so it’s much easier to remove. But when you look in the mirror upon completion of this procedure, you will not even think about reversing it.

Will I experience pain after the treatment?

The area you have received the SMP procedure may be a little tender after the procedure. Many people ask if it feels like getting a tattoo, and yes it has the same idea but with a tattoo you are dragging the needle across the skin. With SMP you are simply placing tiny dots into the upper layer of the skin. Because of the dot like pattern and the fact that it is only going into the top layer of the skin it is much less uncomfortable than a tattoo.

What is the proper SMP aftercare?

Short-Term Care

Your scalp will need time to heal. The scalp will form tiny scabs where the needle pierced the skin. You should never touch, pick, or disturb your scalp while in the healing process.

  • Wait three days before washing or touching the scalp after a treatment.
  • Try and limit sweating, sun exposure or any activity that may cause you to sweat.
  • By the fourth day, you can use water ONLY to rinse your scalp.
  • You can begin moisturizing the scalp at this time.
  • After seven days, you can clean the area with a very mild soap or facial cleanser.
  • During the first 30 days, it is critical that you avoid exposure to UV rays, intense sweating, or any damage to the scalp while your micropigmentation sets.

Long-Term Care

For Long-Term Care, keep the following in mind: · Continue to avoid direct exposure to intense sunlight, and protect yourself from UV rays by wearing a hat or applying sunscreen to the scalp. This will help the treatment from “fading” and will give you better results for a longer period of time.

  • Do not use products that contain alcohol as a quick drying agent. Specifically, look out for SD alcohol, denatured alcohol, or isopropyl alcohol high on the list of ingredients.
  • Always moisturize your scalp at least once every day.
  • Remove dead skin cells by using a gentle exfoliating cleanser to keep your scalp looking great.
